Watch this short documentary, Strength Within, about Emily's experience with TIMBo and her personal path of healing.
Emily discovered Suzanne Jones and her non-profit organization yogaHOPE in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing. Emily realized that yogaHOPE’s TIMBo (Trauma Informed Mind Body) program was the missing piece in her personal healing process, and went on to become a licensed TIMBo facilitator. Aside from the positive results she reaped in her own life through TIMBo, Emily was also drawn to the program because of her desire to help others heal and thrive. It is a powerful program for everyone who seeks healthier relationships with themselves and others, regardless of past experiences.
In addition to facilitating groups in the Boston area, Emily facilitates TIMBo online and in private sessions with individuals. She also leads groups for veterans, active service people, and military families with the hope that TIMBo will become a resource for them to heal from trauma, PTSD, and military sexual trauma (MST).
TIMBo facilitates personal growth that can help individuals navigate life’s tensions through: improved behavioral self-regulation through mindfulness; a self-compassionate cognitive understanding of the human organism’s survival response; social-emotional growth that promotes compassionate attunement to self and others; contemplative skills that strengthen the sense of self and promote confidence in relationships; and development of a resilient worldview that enables individuals to interact with life’s problems with composure and confidence.
TIMBo combines simple yoga-like movements, relaxation breathing, guided meditation, and a workbook-based approach to explore and better understand the impact of emotions such as fear, guilt, shame, and grief.
